Lifting for Life

One of the most common comments I get about my powerlifting (after being concerned for my safety lol) is ‘I could never do that!’

The thing about that though is: you could if you weren’t scared to put the intensity in. Or you stopped bouncing around from one style of training to another when the results don’t happen quickly enough.

I’m not a unicorn. I’m not genetically gifted with strength. I’ve been focused on strength training for 6+ years now because it’s bloody satisfying. And it works.

I turned 40 last year and I am stronger and healthier than the vast majority of people my age. That isn’t luck. It also isn’t Body Pump or HIIT classes, low-calorie diets every spring because I did bugger all in winter, it isn’t the latest fad diet your friend or favourite influencer is selling you or the magic supplement that costs more than a 1 on 1 training session with someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

The day you stop getting in your own way is the day everything changes.

The results come when you take feelings out of the equation and just get it done. You can’t complain about the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t do - sorry!
